included in the article (written by n koepke of the lansing (mich.)
state journal were some goals per game stats for the conferences...

wcha: 9.16 gpg in 89-90
      7.34 gpg in 93-94

ccha: 8.97 gpg in 89-90
      7.39 gpg in 93-94

he: 8.70 gpg in 92-93
      7.53 gpg in 93-94

ecac: 8.24 gpg in 90-91
      7.51 gpg in 92-93

the article seems to claim (at first glance) that the decrease in goal
scoring is due to:
1) an increase in (allowed) clutch-and-grab defensive play
2) more and more quality scoring forwards going to the canadian
   juniors instead of college teams

the article reminds that holding and interference are the points of
emphasis this year.

some asides...
1) i thought it interesting that jay pandolfo was listed as a bu forward
under consideration for the hobey baker (and not joubert).

2) will the hockey east shootouts improve those teams' breakaway
proficiencies (shooters and goalies) a tangible amount by the
time the postseason finally rolls around?

dave
bu 92 and 94, umich 98?
