Two notes on BU for this weekend:
Derek Herlofsky will start in goal Friday, but BU coach Jack Parker
said he may start freshman Tom Noble in the road half of a home
and home with UMass-Lowell Saturday. Herlofsky took quite a
beating versus Maine Sunday and if he undergoes a similar
experience against the River Hawks, Noble, a Boston high
school legend, will get his first collegiate start.
"Regardless, this is the longest Tommy will go without
playing this year," Parker said.
ESPN2 wanted to televise BU's top-10 showdown with Northeastern
at Walter Brown Arena Nov. 12 nationwide. But due to a prior
scheduling of a Canadian Football League game, ESPN2 requested
a 9 p.m. EDT start. Parker and BU athletic director Gary Strickler
balked at the idea.
"My opinion is the most important people here are in the stands,"
Parker said.
"We want to promote hockey, but it wouldn't be fair to our guys,
to Northeastern and, most importantly, our fans who want to
get out of here at a decent hour."
Saturday's game at Lowell and the Nov. 12 game versus NU in
question will be televised locally on WABU-68.
Injuries
Forward Jay Pandolfo will miss both of this weekend's games still
nursing a slightly torn groin muscle. He said he hopes to be back
for the series against the Huskies.
"I still can't skate at full speed," he said.
Defenseman Jeff Kealty is also doubtful with a deep bone
bruise on his hip.
