Good Afternoon LIVE-C Members – 

 

With fall now fully upon us, we wanted to let you know that we will be
beginning our monthly LIVE-C training sessions with Dr. Lance Ford. This
year our sessions will begin with the basics (how to dial another site,
how to add a contact into your address book) and move into more
curriculum-oriented content as the year goes on. Below is a list and brief
description of each of the trainings.

LIVE-C Meeting Dates:

·         October 26th 2011

·         November 16th 2011

·         December 14st 2011

·         January 25th 2012

·         February 15th 2012

·         March 22st 2012

·         April 25th 2012

·         May 23rd 2012

 

All Sessions are to be conducted over video via the University System
Bridge. 

To connect to the bridge, Dial IP #169.244.81.112, then choose one of the
following options:

- Direct Dial Option: Hit pound key to enable touch tones. Then dial Pin
6456# 

- Auto Attendant Option: Using far end camera control scroll down to
LIVE-C Bridge and scroll to right    until it asks you to enter your PIN
number. Exit far end camera control and press # then enter PIN 6456# 

-Audio Only Option: If you would like to join a training but can only dial
in via audio the number is (207) 866-6456 (Pin 6456) 

-Web Conferencing Option: From your web browser enter 169.244.81.112.
Enter ID 6456 and Pin 6456. 

 

Stipend Program 

 

This year in an effort to provide the opportunity for educators to be more
involved in training session’s LIVE-C will be sponsoring a stipend
program. If you or know someone who is interested in sponsoring a one hour
training session and have ideas you would like to share please contact

Educators who lead a session will be offered a $100 stipend.

 

October 26th 2011, 3-4PM EST 

Back to Basics – This session will focus on basics of operation as an
introduction to new LIVE-C-ers and those that would like review. We will
focus on the “how-to”s of making a call, using the address book,
microphone, volume, camera motion and camera presets. In this session, we
will also review the state-wide dialing plan and bridge network.

 

November 16th 2011, 3-4PM EST 

School and Library Network, Part 1 – In this meeting, we will review of
the University System network and offer a tutorial on how to connect to
the Bridge and Tandberg Content Server (TCS). The main focus of this
session will be on the TCS and exploring the options for outputs on the
TCS for streaming, portable media devices, download and distribution.

 

December 14th 2011, 3-4PM EST 

Back to Basics, Part 2 – This session will focus on presentation
possibilities (dual video versus switching, etc.). We will also discuss
hooking up peripheral video sources to the system, so bring doc cams,
microscopes, computers, iPods (basically, anything that can hook up to a
TV can hook up to the TANDBERG system) and the all the appropriate cables
to training. This session will also provide an introduction to the Content
Server Solution.

 

January 25th 2012, 3-4PM EST 

School and Library Network, Part 2 – Here we will continue our review of
the University System network. The main focus of this session will be on
bridge conferences. In this session, we will discuss reserving or
scheduling the bridge as well as various options for conducting a bridge
call.

 

February 15th 2012, 3-4 PM EST

Teacher Presentation: “Teaching Challenges in the Video Communications
World” – Hear from your peers about how they are using video in the
classroom.

 

March 21st 2012, 3-4 PM EST

Teacher Presentation: “Bringing the World to the Classroom” – This session
will be delivered by a fellow teacher and will focus on virtual field
trips. Talk to your peers about scheduling and planning virtual
fieldtrips, pre-and post-conference activities, and student and/or parent
reactions to these activities.

 

April 25th 2012, 3-4 PM EST

Teacher Presentation: “Collaborative Exchanges Beyond Classroom
Boundaries” – This discussion will be lead by teacher(s) that have done
projects via video with other classrooms. The session will include “How
To”s on collaboration planning, logistics, engagement, and meeting
standards.

 

May 23rd 2012, 3-4 PM EST

Teacher Presentations:  “Potpourri” – We will have an open call for ideas
in this session. Possibly a teacher-led professional development on some
resource that is accessible in Maine. NOT VIDEOCONFERENCING!!!! We will
use Videoconferencing as the mechanism to deliver, record and stream this
meeting’s content; however, the goal is to have a videoconference session
that is NOT about videoconferencing but is instead focused on classroom
content.
