*What is happening?*
On Sunday morning maintenance will be performed on the system hosting the
PeopleSearch and the related search pages available via several campus
websites. The following will be applied:

   - Software security updates and bugfixes
   - Roll out into production a new feature in the PeopleSearch that
   displays an individual's Preferred Name when it differs from his or her
   Legal Name and allows for searching by both Preferred and Legal names.


*How long will it take?*
The downtime is expected to be 15 minutes or less.

*Why is this work necessary?*

   - New security updates have become available. Getting security patches
   applied to systems in a timely manner protects all members of the UMS
   community.
   - Official Name Usage Policy requires use of Preferred Name when
   requested.


*What happens if the work is not successful?*
If the server does not resume normal website hosting on its own within a
reasonable period of time then staff will troubleshoot it.
