7th place Brown vs. 10th place Princeton
The Bears vs. the Tigers
Gaudet vs. Cahoon
Parsons vs. Konte
Valente vs. Wodon
Hang 'em up vs. Advance to Quarterfinals...
It's tonight's ECAC preliminary round playoff game at magnificent Meehan
Auditorium!
The Tigers arrive with a 5-14-3 conference record having split with Union
and R. P. I. last weekend, while the Bears enter the post-season fray at
5-11-6 having suffered a lost weekend in northern New England against
Vermont and Dartmouth.
The match-up reunites the combatants from last season's memorable ECAC
quarterfinal round and will determine whether Princeton has indeed
established a hex on the Bears (the Tigers won the deciding game of the
teams' 1995 playoff series in double overtime and were 1-0-1 vs. Brown
during the 1995-96 regular season). Tonight's winner will earn a marathon
trip to lovely Potsdam, NY where the Clarkson Golden Knights are prepared
to offer their usual warm hospitality at comfy Cheel Arena.
IMO, the outcome of the Brown-Princeton game as well as the R. P. I. -
Dartmouth contest at the fabled Houston Field House will rest with the
quality of goaltending enjoyed by each team. All five goaltenders,
Parsons, Konte, Tamburro and either Baker or Heller have had their moments
of brilliance during the regular season, however I'll predict that seniors
Parsons and Tamburro will take advantage of their last appearance on home
ice to spur Brown and R. P. I. into the quarterfinal round.
It's a whole new season; let's play hockey!
