PROVIDENCE HOCKEY DEFEATED BY #6 BOSTON UNIVERSITY, 4-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team was defeated by
No. 6-ranked Boston University, 4-2, on Saturday, February 23 in a HOCKEY
EAST league contest at PC's Schneider Arena.
        Steve Greeley opened the scoring in the second period for the Terriers,
scoring his second goal of the season and his second tally in as many night.
The Friars responded when PC senior forward Drew Omicioli (West Warwick,
R.I.) received a long pass from sophomore defenseman Regan Kelly (Imperial,
Sask.), beat the defense and fired a low slap shot past the glove of BU
goaltender Sean Fields for the score. Providence took a 2-1 lead at 15:48
when junior co-captain Jon DiSalvatore (South Windsor, Conn.) scored on the
power-play, banging in a feed from sophomore defenseman Stephen Wood
(Sudbury, Mass.).
        BU battled back in the third period, scoring three consecutive goals for
the win. The game-tying goal came at 8:30 when Brian McConnell converted a
feed from Freddy Meyer. The Terriers John Sabo put BU up, 3-2, at 10:50 when
he tallied shorthanded. Mike Pandolfo scored an empty-net goal with 31
seconds remaining in the contest for the final margin.
        PC's junior goaltender Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Sask.) was sharp in
the contest, making 32 saves in the loss. Fields made 23 in the win.
        Providence completes the regular season next week on Friday, March 1 when
they play at UMass Lowell.
