Regrading the importance of playing division-I schools, I disagree
entirely. I know I'm not as knowledgeable as some, but I grew up watching
Ferris State hockey (CCHA) and now attend the University of Michigan. I
think this gives me a good perspective on hockey at a large school versus
a small one. At Ferris we always loved our hockey, we cherished it.
Whether the team was in 8th place or third, we loved the team. I think
true hockey fans realize they are a different sort than other fans. We
know we cheer for our favorite school in many sports, but closest to our
heart is always hockey. We learn to respect a team for its hockey
tradition. For example, Lake Superior State has always been one of our
biggest matchups of the year. Consistantly a big draw at the arena and all
around a big game for the team. Until this year, Ohio State never was a
big deal. The true Bulldog hockey fan knew this game wouldn't be as
exciting nor important as the Western (Michigan), Miami, or Lake State
game.
I think the true college hockey fans from all of the schools truely loves
the sport. They remember their love for it when they were younger and
their childrens love of it maybe. True North Dakota fans love their team
and the game they play. They choose what is best for their beloved sport.

Just my two cents. Sorry if it didn't make sense.y
