It was no halluncination.
As I posted earlier, USA TODAY Online lobbied one of its major content
providers, SportsTicker, to provide real-time college hockey scores. Perhaps
others clients asked, too (I don't know if any that did).
We wanted the real-time scores for our automated, updated scores page
(http://www.usatoday.com/sports/scores96/scores.htm) and have been providing
that service online since the beginning of the season. The scores are also
part of the regular Ticker scroll which you see on USA TODAY Online's home
page (www.usatoday.com) or on Headline News, too.

I saw it too. I was going to ask the same question. I thought they
showed the score because it slow sports day, but there were a
number of games played in the NBA and NHL last night. With the
exception of late round playoff games (on espn) I've never seen
college hockey scores appearing on any network's sports ticker. I
checked espn and espn2, but they didn't show the score. I waited
until the ticker went through the scores twice to make sure I wasn't
hallucinating.
