Former BGSU Falcon and Hobey Baker award winner Brian Holzinger earned
his 1st NHL point for the Buffalo Sabres last night when he assisted on
Richard Smehlik's goal against the Montreal Canadiens. The goal was the
game winner for the Sabres as they clinched the final playoff spot in the
east.
The play was almost Brians first professional goal as he skated with
the puck toward Patrick Roy. Zinger had Roy beaten until Roy dove
forward and poke checked the puck into the far corner(along with Zinger
as he went flying through the air!!) where Smehlik picked up the puck,
brought it out in front and wristed it past Roy. Also assisting on the
goal was for BG defenseman Garry Galley. Congrats to Brian and hopefully
the next point will be a goal!!
