Last night on the Bob Mancini Show, Frank Serratore was interviewed.
This is a synopsis of the comments made.

Sunday afternoon, DU's administration called Frank in and asked for his
and his staff's resignation. This was very unexpected. Prior to this, Frank
was negotiating for a year's extension to his contract for which a year currently
remains. Frank has improved the DU program greatly however not fast enought for
the administration. Frank met with his staff and whatever players that were in
Denver Monday before making the announcement public in a 2:00 PM MST press release.
(DU is currently on its Spring Break.)

Frank stated that he is somewhat unhappy about the situation. He did not choose to
coach pro-hockey because of the sole emphasis of the NHL on win-loss. In college
hockey, he saw the opportunity to develop a program where the students that played
hockey were benefitted. He stated that he put together a program where hockey
players were graduating with education. Unfortunately, he perceives that the
administration is not willing to wait for this program to mature.

At the present time he has no plans. However, he warned Bob Mancini that he would
again be nipping at his heels and challenging him with a team on the ice at some
future date.

This is a sad situation for Division I hockey. Smaller schools such as Denver
will not always win the majority of their games in the WCHA with the powerhouses
of Wisconsin and Minnesota. I thought that Denver was progressing nicely and
show great promise for future years. Denver's main problem this year were injuries,
not poor coaching. There are always more to these events than becomes public.
Frank Serratore is a fine coach and I think we can plan on seeing him elsewhere,
(maybe Maine?)
