UMD swept its first road series since January 1993 and its first in Grand
Forks since 1985, beating the Fighting Sioux 6-3. Taras Lendzyk, injured in
Friday's game, went back between the pipes Saturday and had a strong
performance, stopping 38 shots. Both Lendzyk and North Dakota's Toby
Kvalevog made outstanding saves, but UMD came out on top after being swept
by the Sioux at home in November. Brad Federenko's team record tying 9
game goal scoring streak came to an end, but the Dogs 7 game unbeaten
string continued. The Dogs have earned 12 of a possible 14 points in
that stretch, playing four of the top six teams in the league. The
Bulldogs are just 2 points out of a home playoff spot, and 5 points out
of second place in the tight WCHA.
