Subject: [Trio-list] FW: GRE Fee Reduction Program for TRIO Student Support Service Programs

******

Dear TRIO Student Support Services Program Director:

As you may know, the Graduate Record Examinations(r) (GRE(r)) Program has supported a Fee Reduction Program for many years. We view access to the GRE General Test, Subject Tests, and test preparation material as critical to the success of many students, and we are happy to have been able to provide GRE Fee Reduction vouchers to thousands of individuals since the program was launched in 1971.

In October 2017, the GRE Board approved a request to provide up to five GRE Fee Reduction vouchers for the GRE General Test and up to five vouchers for the GRE Subject Tests to each Student Support Services (SSS) program annually. The GRE Program is pleased to offer GRE Fee Reduction vouchers to each SSS Program for the 2017-18 testing year. Details of the program are listed below:

2017-18 Program Details:

* You may request up to five Fee Reduction Vouchers for your SSS students who plan to take the GRE(r) General Test and up to five vouchers for those who plan to take a GRE(r) Subject Test.

* You will receive one ScoreItNow!(tm) Online Writing Practice voucher for each GRE General Test voucher requested. Each ScoreItNow! voucher allows a test taker access to the ScoreItNow! service; he or she can submit responses to up to two GRE Analytical Writing tasks and receive immediate scores free of charge. The service is intended to help test takers prepare for the Analytical Writing section of the GRE General Test.

* All vouchers are good for one year from date of issue.

* Refunds will not be issued for test takers who cancel or are absent from their test appointments.

Process for Obtaining GRE Fee Reduction Vouchers

* Print and complete the 2017-18 SSS Fee Reduction Program Order Form available at www.ets.org/gre/sssform<http://www.ets.org/gre/sssform> and indicate the number of GRE General Test vouchers and GRE Subject Test vouchers you wish to order.

* Email the completed order form to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

* ETS will email the requested number of vouchers to you for distribution to your SSS students approximately five to seven days after receipt of your completed order form.

Using GRE Fee Reduction Vouchers

Please share the following information with test takers who will be using a GRE Fee Reduction voucher.

*        General Test Registration

o Test takers are required to pay 50 percent of the GRE General Test fee (US$102.50) at the time they register to test.

o Test takers paying by credit/debit card can register online in their ETS Account at www.ets.org/mygre<http://www.ets.org/mygre>, or by calling Prometric(r) Services at 1-800-473-2255 to schedule a test appointment.

o Test takers paying by check or money order need to complete a Computer-delivered GRE(r) General Test Authorization Voucher Request Form at www.ets.org/gre/bulletinandforms<http://www.ets.org/gre/bulletinandforms> and follow the instructions on the form for mailing to ETS. Individuals should allow up to four weeks for processing and mail delivery.

*        Subject Test Registration

o Test takers are required to pay 50 percent of the Subject Test fee (US$75) at the time they register to test.

o Test takers paying by credit/debit card can register online in their ETS Account at www.ets.org/mygre<http://www.ets.org/mygre>.

o Test takers paying by check or money order need to complete the Registration Form for the GRE(r) Subject Tests at www.ets.org/gre/bulletinandforms<http://www.ets.org/gre/bulletinandforms> and follow the instructions on the form for mailing to ETS. Individuals should allow up to four weeks for processing and mail delivery.

  * ScoreItNow! Online Writing Practice Voucher Redemption
o To redeem a ScoreItNow! voucher, test takers need to log in to their ETS account and click "Shop for Test Preparation," add the ScoreItNow! service to their cart, and click "Proceed to Checkout."
o Next, the voucher number they have received should be entered in the "Voucher/Promotional Code" box at the top of the checkout page. The fee for the service will be $0.0 once the voucher is recognized. Then, they should click "Pay Now."
o Once the order has been processed, a new voucher code to access the ScoreItNow! Service will be sent to the test taker. The test taker will be able to use this new voucher code to access the ScoreItNow! service at www.ets.org/gre/scoreitnow<http://www.ets.org/gre/scoreitnow>.

If you have questions, please contact GRE Institutional Services via email at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or by phone at 609-771-7092. Questions from test takers should be directed to GRE Services via email at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or by phone at 609-771-7670.

The GRE Fee Reduction Program for the TRIO SSS Program is funded by income from GRE test fees. The GRE Program incurs a cost for every test appointment scheduled or test registration received. It is important that you encourage your students not to schedule an appointment or register for a test unless they are sure they will be able to attend the test session. The long-range viability of the Fee Reduction Program depends upon effective stewardship of this program. We appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline B. Briel
