The Bowdoin College Library is seeking a Research Services Coordinator to oversee the research, reference, and reproduction services for the George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives. This is a part-time (20 hours/week) appointment with the anticipated schedule of 1-5pm, Monday-Friday.
Special Collections & Archives is an active special collections library with robust collections of rare books, manuscript collections, and the College archives that are consulted frequently by Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff, as well as researchers from around the world. The Coordinator is the department’s primary point person for on- and off-site researchers. The position oversees the department’s secure Reading Room, staffs the reference desk and coordinates the reference shifts of others, researches and responds to reference questions, and as appropriate, refers questions to subject experts. The position is the department’s expert on Aeon, an online patron registration and requesting system, and is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and orderly circulation of materials to patrons. The Coordinator also manages appointment, permission to publish, and scanning requests.
