August 11, 2016

Dear Colleague:

Today, the Department of Education has sent notice to Capitol Hill
regarding Educational Opportunity Center applicants who will receive awards
on the first slate. We expect that the Department will also begin issuing
notices to applicants who are in the “funding band” and eligible for a
second review of their applications shortly. Applicants are encouraged to
contact their congressional representatives to learn whether they received
funding on the first slate.

COE is currently collecting as much information as possible so as to
provide the most accurate advice to all applicants. If you have received
notification that your application falls within the “funding band” only
please notify COE staff member Krysti Specht via e-mail (
[log in to unmask]) or phone (202.347.7430). If you have any questions
or concerns regarding the grant competition, please contact Angelica
Vialpando at [log in to unmask]

COE will host a conference call for applicants in the funding band ONLY on
Monday, August 22 at 4:00 p.m. (Eastern). Please RSVP for this call to
Krysti Specht. COE will host another conference call for applicants who
have not heard anything regarding their application status on Tuesday,
August 23 at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern). To participate in either call, please
dial 1-800-747-5150 and use Access Code 1663634.

Sincerely,

Maureen Hoyler, President
Council for Opportunity in Education
