Nice to think so. She and George (another six degrees of Ezra component,
natch) Antheil conceived of this one night at a party while talking about
player-piano mechanisms. They got a patent for it while graciously donating
the wartime use of it to the US GOV. GOV used, then continued to use it and
punch-tape as a basis for a  number of data storage methods for years to
come. Hedy and George never got much of anything. Except each other. For a
while.
