Kate,

This may be unrelated to your path of study, I don't
know, but if you have access to a copy of the NPF's
"William Carlos Williams: Man and Poet"  you'll find
in one of the first chapters Allen Ginsberg discussing
what he considers the "close to the nose" buddhist
sympathy/outlook in the observations/
writings of Williams.

Look it up. It's worth consideration...
