The Disney 'true life adventure' _ Perri _ (1957) -- which Ezra Pound 
praised as 'absolute genius' for the way it presents 'the values of 
courage and tenderness ... in a way that everybody can understand'*  -- 
has been released on DVD, in volume 4 of the Disney Legacy Collection.

The squirrels are alerted to the presence of the hungry marten by a 
bluejay's warning calls; and the male squirrel attracts the marten to 
himself and away from the nest of newborn squirrels, sacrificing his own 
life for their survival.
