Dear friends on the listserve,

We recently published the full music score, with piano reduction, for
Pound's second opera Cavalcanti in a numbered edition of 200. In
addition, the music is prefaced by a 200 page essay that looks at all of
Pound's music from the perspective of Cavalcanti, his last completed
work, and the culmination of Pound's self-teaching in music composition.
Drawing on Pound's extensive correspondence about music with Agnes
Bedford, the essay traces Pound's development as a composer and relates
his compositional activity to his literary output and theories. The
appendices treat Great Bass, the violin works (this is the first
complete catalogue, with descriptions of each work and, when relevant,
their relation to poetic form), and tone deafness. This summer we will
publish twelve of the violin works, and in the fall we will release
excerpts from the third opera.
For those interested in performing Cavalcanti, rental parts are also
available.

Sincerely,
Robert Hughes and Margaret Fisher
