I agree with Carrol Cox that dipping into the Cantos, especially often,
with no attempt to encompass the whole, is an excellent way to read them.
Pound declared that he did not believe in "major form," and his poem
certainly shows it. I doubt, in fact, that there is a "whole" to be
encompassed -- rather segments separately conceived, and best read for
independent value -- though that value may not emerge with one reading.
