I am posting this opening for a public library director on behalf of the
Board of Directors of the Vassalboro Public Library :

Vassalboro Public Library is a small public library in a lively community.
Nestled in the village of East Vassalboro, near China Lake and the
Vassalboro Historical Society, the library and its collection of over
30,000 items are staffed by a Head Librarian/Director, an Assistant
Librarian, and a loyal crew of volunteers.  Circulation and the catalog are
recently automated -- and becoming more so every day.



The position of Head Librarian/Director requires a motivated leader who is
patron-minded and customer service driven.  The ideal candidate will:

 ·      - have a college degree and 5-10 years experience in libraries,
management, and/or education, including experience with collection
development, evaluation of library services, reader's advisory, program
selection and planning, and the care and management of collections;

·      - be savvy with technology (PCs, software, Wi-Fi, social media
etc.), including common issues and their remedies;

·      - have strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and
written;

·      - strive to connect patrons with the collection and vice versa;

·      - pay close attention to detail and the changing needs of the
community;

·      -  be comfortable operating a wood stove.
