The Readfield Community Library is hosting a virtual program tonight on
PFAS, as part of our *2023 Environment & Sustainability Program & Speaker
Series*. Funding for this program series is through a Maine Public
Libraries Fund grant.
If you are interested, please join us by Zoom for tonight's event:
*PFAS: The Far Reach of ‘Forever Chemicals’ on April 26th *
Maine is among the first states to confront the impacts of per- and
polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a vast class of toxic “forever
chemicals” in widespread use for more than 60 years. Learn about how PFAS
cycle through ecosystems and get into waters and food webs, what actions
the state is taking to address this challenge, and what measures you can
take to minimize exposure. Most of the session will involve Q&A.
Presenter *Marina Schauffler*, an independent journalist, recently wrote a
series on PFAS that appeared in *The Maine Monitor* and was supported by
the Doris O’Donnell Innovations in Investigative Journalism Fellowship,
awarded by the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University in
Pittsburgh, PA.
This event will take place on *Wednesday, April 26 at 6:00pm* and will
be a *virtual
event using Zoom*. Please register to receive the Zoom link at:
