Nov. 17, 2004
ORONO, Maine- The University of Maine men's ice hockey coach Tim
Whitehead announced today that his program has received a National
Letter of Intent from Matt Duffy to attend the University of Maine in
the fall of 2005.
Duffy is a 6-2, 185 pound defenseman from Windham, Maine. Last season
he had 17 goals and 9 assists for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs, as
the team won the EJHL Championship. This year, he has played in 14
games with four goals and seven assists for eleven points with the
Monarchs.
"Matt has emerged as an elite defenseman in the EJHL," said Whitehead.
"He has excellent offensive instincts and he is very mobile and
physical defensively. We are very pleased that he will join us in the
fall of 2005."
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to
the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including
registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse. The early signing period
began November 10 and ends November 17.
