Well put, Martin Deporres.
Oh, but Wei, Lin Zexu's letter to Queen Victoria was in protest of the
English opium trade to China in the 1830's. England ignored China's right to
outlaw the use of the substance and insisted on protecting the trade which
resulted in a war and the Treaty of Nanking followed by such as Victor
Sassoon, Shanghai, etc. etc.
How many 18 year old Iowa farmboys in 1941 knew about this history is
quite questionable as it is today. But your postings have the same narcotic
effect as opium without of course the pleasant dreams and interesting syntax
of the latter. As in the case of China this list to be politically correct
can only issue protests with futility.
Is there any way the members of a list can vote? Wei believes or says he
believes in democracy. Too bad we can't find out.
