I've been away, & am now busy scrambling to catch up. I get the feeling
from this discussion that you (plural, all) are struggling to invent the
wheel Richard Taylor has been perfecting for close to 30 years. His
Variorum Cantos is in html, and does trace every known variant, every
mention in letters or notes to printers, every correction, via New
Direction archives, Faber, etc. etc. Ric has an article describing the
process in the forthcoming issue of Paideuma. I can't stop to look for it
now, to answer the obvious next question--when will the VC be ready. Soon,
on CDs I think. Most of it is finished, if I remember right. best,
Sylvester
