Langenscheidt Pocket-Dictionary ancient greek-german 1986 says:

períploos, -plous [omikron ypsilon] -
Umsegelung, Herumsegeln [=sailing along, - around]

My most favourite English-German Dictionary, the Fluegel
'Allgemeines Wörterbuch' in 3 heavy volumes
(most valuable because done in 1891 it renders true Pound language',
the sounds that were around him when he grew up to be a Genius)
even renders Periplus with an english source of use named
'Dr. Vincent, by Todd', giving the german translation 'Umschiffung' again.

As it is no latin word, 'periplum' could neither be an accusative, except
when used in latin Homer-translations EP might have used.

A happy yule

Martin
