Extortion be damned! A whole lot of people have spent a whole lot of money
on hockey (and other sport) season tickets over the years, not to mention
additions and enhancements to the Alfond and the purchase of luxury boxes
and dasher boards -- how do you think the department runs? On money given
out by the state? Oh, c'mon ... really!
The department has a chance to use a limited number of tickets to reward
donors, as should be the case -- and, no, I am not a donor at that level --
and has set aside a percentage of tickets for students based on student
attendance at games. That certainly is more than fair to the students and
to the donors. This kind of palaver reminds me of the students who keep
referring to themselves as the program's True Fans, because they go to games
and scream and a lot of other people don't. Just buying some hockey tickets
or screaming doesn't qualify someone as more than anything but a person who
buys some hockey tickets or screams.
Is your tongue still firmly planted in your cheek ... ??
