ORONO, Maine (AP) -- Michel Leveille and Josh Soares each scored a goal
and an assist Friday to lead ninth-ranked Maine to a 4-0 win over
UMass-Lowell.
Soares started the scoring 5:54 into the game, gathering a rebound of a
shot by Derek Damon and flipping it past River Hawks goaltender Peter
Vetri. Leveille also assisted on the play.
The Black Bears (13-6, 6-4 Hockey East) got two more goals in the
second. Soares set up Leveille, who made a nice move to get past Vetri
at 11:31. Just over a minute later, Brent Shepheard scored on the
rebound a shot from Rob Bellamy for a 3-0 lead.
Bret Tyler rounded out the scoring 4:57 into the third period with a
slap shot from just in front of the blueline.
Matt Lundin made 17 saves for Maine, his third shutout of the season.
Vetri stopped 30 shots for the River Hawks (6-12, 3-8).
