Todd Jackson Signs with Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings have signed University of Maine forward Todd
Jackson to a two-year contract, club Assistant General Manager Jim Nill
announced earlier this week. Jackson was an eighth-round selection by
the Red Wings in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. As is club policy, terms
were not disclosed.

Jackson, 23, earned Second Team All-America and Hockey East All-Star
honors and was named Hockey East’s Best Defensive Forward as a senior
captain with a team-high 21 goals, including five shorthanded and five
power play. He finished third on the team with 33 points on the season
as the Black Bears advanced to the NCAA championship game in April and
compiled a 33-8-3 record, which was the best in the country.

The Cortland, N.Y. native played four seasons at Maine, where he played
in 161 games, ranking sixth in all-time games played at Maine. He
tallied 45 goals and 54 assists for 99 career points and had nine
game-winning goals. A three-time Maine scholar-athlete and three-time
member of the hockey East Academic Honor Roll, Jackson graduated from
Maine in May with a degree in New Media.
