LAWRENCE, MA -- Noah Smith has been named the new Director of Media
relations for the Hockey East Association, it was announced today by Hockey
East Commissioner Joe Bertagna. Smith, who formally begins his new position
on August 21, replaces Ed Saunders, who was recently named Marketing
Director for Bauer Nike Hockey in Greenland, NH.

"We are very pleased to have someone of Noah's talents joining our office,"
said Bertagna. "His work at Northeastern left a strong impression on those
with whom he worked and prepared him well for his new duties."

Smith, a 1994 graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara,
worked in the Northeastern University sports information office for the past
three seasons, handling sports information responsibilities for three
squads, including the Huskies' hockey publicity.

The Director of Media Relations is the primary media contact for the
nine-school Division I ice hockey conference. His duties include production
of all publications and presentation materials, as well as serving as the
direct contact for the league's nine sports information offices and the
popular Hockey East website. He will assist the commissioner in all aspects
of the league operations including but no limited to marketing initiatives
and all external communications.
