Shields Playing in World Championships
ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine men's ice hockey junior forward Colin
Shields (Glasgow, Scotland) is playing for Great Britain in the 2003
International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships Division I, Group B
in Zagreb, Croatia. Great Britain, which played its first game today and
finished in a 2-2 tie with France, will play five games in the tournament.
Great Britain next plays Italy on Tuesday, April 15.
Shields saw action in 34 games for the Black Bears in 2002-03 and scored 14
goals and added 13 assists for 27 points. He finished tied for the team lead
in power play goals with seven, and scored Maine's lone goal in a 2-1 loss
to Michigan in the NCAA Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.
