I have followed this recent thread and finally feel obligated to join in
... I haven't commented in some time so here I go again...

I have to agree with Deron here. FOMH does need to improve - any
organization that doesn't believe that is only kidding itself. From
Cathy's messages, it is clear to this reader that she is just too close
to the program and has gotten very defensive about any criticism
directed its way. Cathy, I don't think many people would say that FOMH
does a bad job - I just think people are saying that they can do a
better job. How you say?? FOMH needs to be more innovative in their
approaches to getting people involved - going online on the Internet is
one such way. I also don't agree that idea of advertising should be
completely abandoned - it should be always looked at as an option as
long as the activities are within the boundaries of the NCAA regs. FOMH
needs to be more proactive in its thought processes here I believe - it
seems to be that this may be one case where advertising dollars could go
a long way to boosting membership which would in turn generate more
income for the hockey program. To just make a statement that "no money
can be spent on advertising" seems a little short-sighted to me.

I have to admit that being an alum that now resides in NH - I, too,
suffer from an ignorance as to what FOMH is all about. I have followed
Maine hockey closely since I graduated in '84 and have never felt
inclined to join the organization.

just my $.02
