Today at noon is the NHL Waiver draft. After a quick
look at the list
(http://nhl.com/onthefly/news/2003/10/152426.html) I
saw three Bears left unprotected (sorry if I missed
any others):
- Steve Kariya (NJ), Chris Ferraro (PHO) and Peter
Ferraro (PHO)
With the Waiver rules and draft order (see below) the
only thing for certain is:
- If Steve goes in the first round it will not be to
Pitt or NYR
- If the Twins go in the first round it will not be to
LA or SJ
After that, all bets are off.

2003-04 Waiver Draft Rules:
1. In the first round, non-playoff clubs from the
2002-2003 season participate.
2. In the first round, no club may claim from a
club in its own division.
3. No club may lose more than three players in the
Waiver Draft, unless it chooses to offer more players.
Each club's three-player loss limit will increase by
the number of draft claims it makes against other
clubs.
4. The draft will conclude when a round is
completed in which no club makes a claim.
