Now here's a rule sure to be changed soon. You point out a
correctable and verifiable error ... and for that you lose
   your only timeout. Dumb.

>(Currently the official are instructed to ignore the offsides).

Interesting. I've seen them call it when they weren't sure.
I've had a differing opinion a time or two. But I've *never*
seen an official "ignore" offsides. Good to remove current
"instruction", but this is another bad rule. Since when is
"forced offside" not interference ... er, obstruction--forced-offside?

>Look for a call to be made every time this occurs.

And both players ready to whine because each asst ref will have his
own idea of what is a penalty and what is not :-(

Hopefully it some of the discussion leading up to this will become
public. So much for trying to adopt NHL rules.

>THIS YEAR'S EMPHASIS ITEMS INCLUDE:
>Obstruction (see above)
>Diving (further clarification and enforcement)

No need, Brendan's used up his eligibility.

>Cross-Checking and Slashing (further training of officials)

Very good, especially if "further training" means real enforcement.

>Goal Judges (Emphasis on officials for these positions)

Yea, like when was the last time a Goal Judge had any part in a game
besides turning a light on and off now and again. Save some money
and just get rid of them.

>Goal Pins (Must be used whenever possible)

   I can see them now:

"Be good -- Your mother is watching"

      "Don't bunch up"

      "Play smart -- Be tough"

      "Signing bonus or Graduate"

Next, it'll be illegal to rip a goal pin off an opponents' jersey.

sorry.

(Thanks, Joe!) cheers, wayne
