Even if Evola and Pound shared the same publisher (Vanni Scheiwiller) and
Pound's son -in-law Boris de Rachewiltz has been a close acquaintance of
Evola, the two probably never met. They exchanged letters, as it is evident
from a collection of Evola letters (Julius Evola, _Letters 1955-1974_ edited
by Renato del Ponte, La Terra degli Avi, Finale Emilia 1995.) From these
letters, and from other trustworth sources, I may say that they did not like
each other very much. Evola thought Pound was literally obsessed by economic
manias, while Pound thought that Evola was a gloomy person.
Dismissing Evola as a "high-minded racist" it is a real mistake, as he has
been the most important Italian Dada painter -and poet- (Two ehibitions of
his paintings have been recently held in Rome and in Milan, patrocinized by
Italian Ministry of Culture); one of the most original idealistic
philosopher, and many other things ... He translated Spengler and Otto
Weininger in Italian and wrote books on the Holy Grail, on Alchemy, on Sex
and on Buddism which are always in print. For example, his book on Buddism
has been translated in English by the Paly Society, while his life and
thought have been analyzed in many international conference attended by high
minded scholars and intellectuals...
