Here are the current HEA standings, games to be played and my calculation of
possible finishes:

Pos Team Points Games to play CanPlace
1 New Hampshire 33 BC, @BC (1-2)
2 Boston University 32 ME, ME (1-3)
3 Maine 30 BU, BU (1-3)
4 UMass-Lowell 25 PC (4)
5 Northeastern 22 @MC (5-6)
6 Boston College 21 @UNH, UNH (5-7)
7 Providence 19 UML (6-7)
8 Merrimack 12 NU, @UML (8)
9 UMass-Amherst 8 MC (9)

My *estimation* is that UNH and ME both lose both their games (flack jacket on).
This vaults BU into 1st, keeps ME in 3rd, and moves BC over NU. ME would face
NU at Alfond next Thursday/Friday/(Saturday). IMHO, this would give very good
chance of 4 HEA teams in the NCAAs (UNH & BU are "locks").

But this would mean that ME would need a very good HEA tournament in order to
qualify for the NCAAs. Two wins over BU this weekend (won't happen, but) would
all but ensure a ME appearance in Worcester.

Now if UNH surprises me with 2 wins, then ME would probably play BC or PC.
All contests being resolved in favor of current standings would bring BC to the
Alfond.

What do you think will happen, Maine fans?

Go Blue! cheers, wayne
