Bob Monahan of the Boston Globe reports:

"Coach Walsh will undergo tests on cancerous tumors under his
breastbone early next week. He will travel to Bethesda, Md., for
pre-treatment testing for a stem cell procedure.

"Walsh, 45, had a kidney removed in July after being diagnosed with
kidney cancer. The cancer spread to lymph nodes under his
breastbone and he underwent two 20-day sessions of immunotherapy
at a cancer center at UCLA.

"The treatments did not eliminate or shrink the tumors, but they haven't
grown, either.

"In a stem cell procedure, doctors need a donor who matches Walsh's
genetic profile on three of four points. Walsh's younger brother, Kevin,
who lives in the Washington, D.C., area, matches on all four points.

"Doctors hope to start the procedure soon."
