PROVIDENCE MEN'S HOCKEY TO PLAY AT MAINE IN
HOCKEY EAST QUARTERFINALS ON MARCH 9-11
 
        PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team will play at
the University of Maine for a best-of-three HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinal series
on March 9-11.
        The top four teams in league standings host the best-of-three Quarterfinal
Series and the winners advance to the FleetCenter in Boston for the
Semifinals and Championship Game on March 17-18.   Maine finished the
season in fourth place in HOCKEY EAST Standings with a 13-3-1 mark and a
22-7-5 overall record.
        The Friars concluded the season in fifth place (10-13-1) in the league
standings.  Providence
(18-16-1) is looking to make its second consecutive trip to the HOCKEY EAST
Final Four at the FleetCenter.  The Friars finished their regular season on
Friday and Saturday with two home games against the defending national
champion Maine Black Bears.  PC posted a 0-2-1 mark against Maine this season.
        Tickets for the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals at Maine's Alfond Arena can be
purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the PC Ticket
Office in Alumni Hall or by calling (401) 865-GOPC.  Also, rooms have been
held for PC hockey fans at the Four Points Sheraton in Bangor, Maine and
can be reserved by calling 207-947-6721.
