Dear Burt,
 
I hope everything is well with you and Virginia. Perhaps by the
beginning of October or so, I can begin to exchange stories about
things pertaining to Associate Deans and their trials and
tribulations. In any event, my congratulations to Virginia and all the
best in her new job.
 
The other I faxed the James Laughin to Betsy and mailed a good
copy of the original to Emily Wallace. Once again, I thank you very
much for thinking of me, and I do hope the paper works out. Of
course, there is quite a bit of work to be done by someone on
Laughlin's poetry, but I don't know if I'm the person to do it.
 
I am certainly interested in participating in some capacity in the
running of _Paideuma_. Once you have a better idea of what it is
exactly you wish to do with the journal, let me know and I'll do what
it takes.
 
We came back from London last week. Homecomings used to be
happy events, but this one proved to be bitter-sweet: It was nice to
see my parents who were visiting from Greece, but it was not so
nice to see my father-in-law who is still recovering from a vicious,
massive stroke. Of course, I did not stay in London for the entire
two weeks: I drove to New Haven from there and spent a few days
at the Beinecke--always a great experience. I enjoyed reading a
few H.D. novels and looking over some of the _Trilogy_ material. I
hope that one of these days (post-Deanship days) I can go back
and spend a few weeks there.
 
Were it not for the fact that my daughter is ill at the moment, I
would have been talking to you on the phone instead of writing. Her
soccer team is playing a game tonight in Elseworth (is this the
right spelling?) and a couple of games tomorrow in Bangor. But I'm
so busy that I'm not disappointed, though my daughter is bitterly
disappointed for missing this one.
