Philadelphia 6, Saint John Nb 4
Jim Montgomery netted a hat trick and Jamie Heward added three assists as
the Philadelphia
Phantoms topped the Saint John Flames, 6-4 in Game Four of the Calder Cup
Finals.
Philadelphia, which leads the series, three games to one, can earn its first
championship with a
road win on Sunday. Montgomery's power play goal 1:48 into the contest gave
the Phantoms the
lead for good. Leading 3-1 in the second period, Montgomery scored his
second of the game at
9:53. After Steve Bancroft and Hnat Domenichelli drew the Flames within 4-3,
Montgomery
capped the hat trick with 2:39 remaining in the period. Bruce Coles, Sean
O'Brien and Mike
Maneluk also scored and Neil Little made 31 saves for Philadelphia. Flames
goaltender Tyler
Moss allowed two early goals and was replaced by Jean-Sebastien Giguere 7:59
into the contest.
Giguere finished with 19 saves.
Jim had a good season.
