just as a general philosophical proposition,... if you're unwilling to think
the unthinkable, and not actually done it in a serious way (eaten of the
tree, kant's sapere aude, etc), you're a child and oughtn't be reading
Pound anyway.
Equally with secular Power, the WWI-II period is the cockpit of Meaning of
our era. This is no trivial matter of an accidental vicious idiosyncrasy of
one man. Pound was in the pit fighting for meaning. Meaning lost. And
ever since this turf has been lorded by the victor's propaganda. We are
now well along that victor's path with all its signposts of nihilism,... its
most recent genome chart; and yet still no one seems inclined to question
the essential truth of this victor, his founding/justifying mythology...the
st geo & the dragon fairy tale of the defeat of fascism.
Now we all know that anyone who steps onto that turf to do battle, unless
he's the one parrotting the victor's construction, is in for a very unequal
combat. And one never expects that. But not to find even a hint of
underground in the most out of the way revolutionary poet's
hutch...well...that's a tuff one
...after all, that turf and all that blood is for the Lie, eh?
