richard,
     actually...yer view is ideologically correct;
ie, in line with yer express class allegiance.

but, was ever a strike wasn't opposed with
this identical (structurally) propaganda analysis:
a) incidentally causes opportunist profiteering
b) heightens the vulnerability of the weakest
c) threatens the immense benefactions (always "in spe" of course)
of the gospel of wealth...like yer kyoto agreement
...nso on
and, tho y'all spared us this time yer old standby
(d) "communist (now, i spose, ira or ossama bin laden) backed"

all which may be more or less true; but not germane.
the pt at issue is social justice: the inequitable share of the value
of the social product accorded the producers
...to the pt where, on the lower rungs, they're forced to take
direct action in order to survive.

re conspiracy: this event seems pretty straightforward:
1)big oil's just do'n what comes natcherly.
and (2) kyoto agreement is a joke, a head-birth,
classic piece of petit boojwa idealist reformism,
so utterly remote from the objective material conditions
of contemporary high-thatcherite laisez faire turbo-capitalism,
with all the consumption trendlines the other way,
it's inconceivable big oil could see it as a threat,
...so this set of events just don't seem a candidate for
any conspiracy hypothesis.

but honestly surely even you gotta admit,
the spectacle of tony blair trying to show himself
as big a man as iron maggie, was worthy of master shallow
or john clees or...
yer politician caste (like yer royals & military, before) has got so airy,
threadbare, vapid, flyblown,...must make you shudder for the day
the inevitable downturn arrives and a full-blown crisis,
eh?

bob
