And McNamara and the rest of the plutocracy DID lose their wars---in
Vietnam and to the Pathet Lao in Laos. But neither the Viet Minh nor
the Pathet Lao, Domino Theory canard notwithstanding, apparently had
designs on Cleveland, Ohio. Unfortunately, there are no parallels to
Nuremberg when nationalist movements in tiny third world countries kick
the big dog away from their dish.
Curtis LeMay provides historical continuity. He fire-bombed Tokyo and
dozens of other cities in Japan and didn't miss a beat when it was time
to carpet bomb "back into the stone age" Vietnam, Cambodia and the Plain
of Jars. Thus LeMay helps strip World War II of some of its sentimental
moral pretext. CP
