Quoth Tim Romano,

<<
Wei,
A point on chronology. Doob indicates that it is often impossible to
determine the date of composition of a given broadcast. One would do well to
bear this particular editorial difficulty in mind when situating Pound
statements in the context of contemporary events, or more precisely, in the
context of the news of contemporary events that was reaching him.
Tim Romano>>

That is a point to bear in mind, certainly. How do you think it might
affect any of the interpretations we have made thus far? While we may not
know the exact date of specific broadcasts, how might our ignorance in that
area alter general statements about Pound's political views, which (I think)
developed and changed rather rather slowly and gradually during the late
30's and early 40's? The catacysmic events (such as the beginning of the
war, the day of US entry into the war, and the end of the war), as dramatic
as they were, only slightly alter Pound's perceptions of political
realities, and do not alter at all his "first principles". Don't you agree?
Lesser events had virtually no effect on perceptions and first principles,
but rather served as content to be perceived and to be evaluated from the
standpoint of firmly held political commitments. Do you find any cases
where this may not be true (bearing in mind that I do not have Doob in front
of me, only a few excerpts)?

Saluti,

Wei

Postscript: I would like to add my voice to JB's and to others' :
