The reality here is that until Whitehead wins a national championship,
he will always be compared to Walsh and will always fall short. It's
not fair, but like I said when I started this thread.. Maine hockey is
what it is because we play for the right to compete for the national
championship every year. Walsh brought that attitude to Maine and I am
certain Whitehead accepted those expectations when he accepted this
position.
Walsh is a Maine hockey martyr because he died coaching Maine after
having re-built what he himself tore down.
I am not sure Maine could have found a more different coach from Walsh
than Tim Whitehead. I *LOVE* this recruiting class and this group of
players that Timmy has brought in. I think Maine will only go as far
as the goalies can take them this year, but I think the 1-2 year
potential of this team is huge. That is due to Tim Whitehead and his
program.
