Or, ... the offense was so sparse that most of the worry was on
defense. But what's the surprise? 90% of college hockey has discovered
that strength, systems, defense wins games. I'm confident that if
UMaine put an emphasis on offense last season, their success would
mirror the number of people they had on post-season teams.
Damon should be *more* than just an offensive player next season, IMHO.
I don't know that he's played defense since his pre-checking leagues,
but thinking of him playing defense may have some merit. He sometimes
reminds me of a young Eric Weinrich, and that's impressive company!
Think of he puck handling and scoring he might bring to the blue line
... an increase in offensive potential for the team, I think.
Of course, he'd need to be able to shut down forwards, one-on-one and
see-the-ice ... but I'm confidant that if the coaches think he can, he will.
I'll miss Zab on the ice with the puck. Good and bad things happened,
but it was always very interesting!
