What concerns me is that for most of the game it seems Maine's first
decision when crossing into the offensive zone was passing, almost
exclusively. Open lanes were available on goaltender Conklin on several
occasions, but several times a pass was made instead of a shot-on.
I spent a good portion of the game yelling at my television for them to shoot
the puck. Early in the first period a Maine player possibly Nikko just through
the puck towards the net and it almost slid through. At that point Cap Raeder
point out that Maine needed to get the puck on net more frequently.
Overall I though Maine played a very good game. If they continue to play with
that much intensity and receive the same type of quality goaltending it will be
a very enjoyable February and March for Black Bear fans.
