It appears Bob Beers is poised to make a comeback after "retiring" in
August, 1997. Thanks to Maine graduate and Boston WBZ-TV/radio sports
anchor Gary Tanguay for the information today before the Bruins-Washington
game.

He began a series of workouts with the Providence Bruins on January 23 (how
I missed that until now...I can't explain). This doesn't count his many
turns on the ice with the touring Bruins Alumni.

His first appearance with Providence was last night.

According to our source, his fellow WBZ employee will appear "as the
schedule permits" in other games for the Baby B's. His take on the matter
is that Beers really has missed the game, and may be showcasing himself for
selection to one of the NHL expansion clubs.

OK !!!
