And when considering Pound and Jones, how could I forget to mention WWI
and the profound impact it had on both poets. Jones was in the trenches
so his perspective is of the periplum. But it is fascinating to take,
say, Canto XVI and consider Jones Parenthesis from the point of view of
someone at the front experiencing first hand the type of anecdotes that
Pound catalogues. Or compare the section in Hugh Selwyn Mauberley with
