The deadline for panel proposals for the Modernist Studies Association
was postponed until May 31; and so, under the pressure of other
responsibilities (especially preparations for the conference here) I
have postponed working up am MSA proposal (or, as it now turns out,
proposals). But I am now back at work on this project, and I am writing
to ask if you are still interested in presenting the paper that you
describe above. If so, I wonder if you could work up a somewhat more
detailed abstract and send it back to me ASAP? (I would like to send
off this proposal by mid-week.) As for the Philadelphia connection: if
you emphasized the ways in which their experiences in Philadelphia in
the years around 1908-1911 shaped their perspectives, that would be
sufficient.  And could you also send me a four or five sentence
biographical sketch, for use in my proposal?

Please also remember that there is no guarantee that this proposal will
be approved by the conference organizing committee.  So I would urge
you to sign up for one of the seminars as well, if you want to
guarantee a spot on the program.
