All librarians who work with youth are invited to attend Beg, Borrow or
Steal on Monday, August 24th at the Waterville Public Library for 10:00am to
2:30pm.
This year's keynote speaker is Kelley Blue, Teen Librarian at the Portland
Public Library. Her topic, "Steal This...But Not That: Successes and
Failures in Serving Teens in Libraries" will help us all learn exciting new
strategies to better serve our teen patrons and their families.
We will also engage in breakout sessions and a wonderful sharing session in
which each librarian will be able to share the best tool, idea, program or
material unearthed this year! Handouts and props are encouraged and contact
information will be shared so that participants will be able to follow up
and keep in touch. The breakout sessions will include:
* Using Dyslexie Font in print and with ebooks.
* New England Library Leadership Symposium (NELLS) discussion with
Abby Morrow, current NELLS participant.
* Summer Reading Review recap. How did it go? How can strategic plans
be developed for the coming year?
Registration is $20 and it will cover lunch from Jorgensen's Café as well as
help sponsor our annual Lupine and Katahdin Awards
<http://mainelibraries.org/page-1442190#Lupine> . Please make sure to list
your sandwich preferences on your registration form so we will know what to
order. Drinks and dessert will also be provided.
